Description:
HANDBUILDING
Hand Build clay by coiling, pinching or slab building. These friendly, relaxed sessions allow you to be creative with very little previous experience or skill and are available for all ages (please note our evening sessions are aimed at adults only but children are welcome to all sessions before 6pm).
The sessions are fun and addictive! You will be surprised how quickly you can make your own mugs, pots, vases or even move on to sculpting! You can come to as many or as few sessions as you wish, come alone or bring a friend, group, team, party… we can accommodate most occasions and most needs. All materials are provided and help is on hand should you need it. If you decide you would like to progress your hand-building, we encourage you to attempt each different technique (coiling, pinching and slab building) completing a variety of projects over several weeks. Build essential skills as you then explore the wonderful world of ceramics taking more challenging projects and, if you wish, moving into sculpture as your confidence grows. We believe in flexible learning, work at your own pace, take as many or few sessions in a week as you like, on whichever days fit your schedule that week, no need to sign up for a whole term, simply ‘pay as you go’… No need to book, just turn up!
Once you have made your item(s) you will need to allow at least a week for it to dry out sufficiently to be fired. Once fired, collect and paint at home (either with one of our takeaway packs or acrylic paints), or, just ‘drop in’ to any general session with us to glaze paint your item which will be then be fired again so you have a lovely, shiny finished ceramic pot to collect. Please note that you will need to pay for each session you attend.
GLAZING
Really relaxing and therapeutic, this is your chance to get creative and bring your pot alive! Once you have made your pot and it has been fired, either by hand or using a potters wheel, there is nothing more therapeutic than adding those finishing touches that transform your pot with a splash of colour! Simply select one of our general sessions where all the materials to finish your pot are provided. The session fee also includes firing* your pot.
POTTERY PAINTING
Great fun and very sociable, ‘Paint A Pot’ at Eastcott Studios is a wonderful way of creating unique and cherished gifts, having some family or friends time out, celebrating a birthday, date night or just treating yourself to a relaxing and enjoyable few hours away from the ‘hustle and bustles’ of life! The session fee includes all the materials you need to complete your project and a small item to paint*. We do however have a wide range of different items in various sizes that you can choose from if you wish (additional fees may apply).
Pottery painting is available during any general session plus designated Saturdays and monthly ‘Prosecco and Paint’ evenings.
If you would like to organise a pottery painting group or party here at Eastcott Studios please call 07747804487. We also do a pottery painting party takeaway service.
